Bariatric Psychologist

Mary is a Clinical Psychologist with more than 10 years experience in applying psychological intervention. She works as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside medical professionals and has worked in many areas of psychology across all ages. Mary believes it is important for patients to acknowledge, understand and accept that bariatric surgery is a collaborative approach, and the surgery is a tool that allows patients to make significant lifestyle and behavioural changes.

 

Mary's role in our bariatric program is assist our patients in identifying their strengths and vulnerabilities, to maintain weight loss at a long-term level, to learn to love their changing body and to develop strategies that will help rewire the brain and stomach connection. Her approach is effective in supporting patients to cope with the transition and to help maintain a positive behavioural change for their lifestyle.
