How Much Will You Lose
Surgery Is a Tool, Not a Cure
Bariatric surgery is one of several tools that can help with weight loss. However, its success relies heavily on your commitment to lifelong lifestyle changes, including healthier eating habits and regular physical activity.
We see surgery as a tool to support these changes, not replace them. Your doctor will guide you through the process, but our broader focus is helping you improve your health, achieve meaningful weight loss, and regain your quality of life.
Patients who commit to the journey often look and feel healthier, have more energy, participate in activities they previously couldn’t, experience significant improvement or resolution of obesity-related conditions
How Much Weight Will I Lose?
Our goal is to help patients lose between 60% and 100% of their excess weight (i.e., the weight above a BMI of 25). The final amount depends on: Your body composition, age, sex, and build, your long-term commitment to dietary and behavioural changes, physical activity levels post-surgery.
We set a minimum target of 60% excess weight loss, as this level of reduction typically results in the greatest improvement in obesity related health conditions.
How Fast Will I Lose Weight?
In the first few months after a gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy, weight typically drops at a consistent pace of 1–2 kg per week. Most patients reach their goal weight between 9 and 12 months post-op, assuming adherence to the post surgical care plan.
